💬 Is it time for the events sector to adopt a value-based approach?

At the AIMAC – Arts Management Conference 2026, Matilde Ferrero presented her research exploring how value-based approaches could support the management and evaluation of the events sector, using Brussels as a case study.

💡The discussion that followed brought valuable new perspectives. While one participant highlighted that some countries face the opposite challenge: too much evaluation rather than too little, another suggested distinguishing the incentives for for-profit and non-profit organisations to adopt evaluation practices since their motivations for evaluating differ.

These exchanges reinforced one key takeaway: the challenge is not simply to evaluate more, but to develop evaluation frameworks that are meaningful, proportionate and adapted to the needs of different actors.
